Well, these are your own packets. You will not be sharing them. Partially unwrap one of them so that you can hold the wrapped end with your thumb and first finger. You don't need a large prtion. Now you can spread the butter by running the unwrapped edge over it. Holding it wrapped in your hand for a minute will soften it if you need to do that. Since they give you several, it you don't have enough and you are down to the wrapper, you can simply repeat the process with a new one. I can use a knife to spread butter, but I learned to do this when I was given butter with no knife and I had a togo package and could not go back to the restaurant and get one since I was on public transit. Oh and this method, like any buttering technique, works the very best the the bread is hot and fresh. Enjoy!

I like going to a place to eat close to school, and when I order a certain dish, it comes with bread. In addition to the bread, I also get a small plate with some wrapped packets of butter. How do you guys deal with buttering bread using those packets? I'm not a good spreader, but how should I handle using one of these packets for one or two pieces of bread? Any techniques would be appreciated.
