Here's another approach.  If the butter is in a foil wrapper, I carefully open 
the foil over my bread, holding the wrapper in the palm of my right hand, could 
be left hand if you're left-handed.  I carefully open the foil with my empty 
hand.  Then I place the foil butter side down in the middle of the bread.  Then 
I rub the foil all around on the bread until the butter is pretty much offf of 
the wrapper.  Then I fold up the wrapper and set it aside.  This is much easier 
to do than it is to explain!  LOL!
