I  never pour liquids, but I scoop them instead.
In the case of oil, or any other liquid, I pour some into a wide mouth container, such as a plastic pot with a snap on llid, and then scoop out the amount required, such as a tablespoon, quarter cup measure, or whatever you require. I do the same with anything liquid, such as ketchup, etc storing the plastic pot in the fridge, and then there is no chance of over pouring a liquid which makes no sound at all before you have far too much. Even the milk is decanted into a wide mouth milk jug, which is then cover with a plastic shower cap and I scoop out the amount I need ffor tea or coffee.
