If I thaw meat in room tempature, I cook it right away.

You want to thaw meat so that it spends the shortest amount of time in the danger zone of temperatures, where bacteria grows. So the answer depends on if you're going to flash thaw something, in which case I'd use hot water, or thaw and leave for a bit, where you'd want to use cold water or, better yet, thaw it in the fridge.
