When the weather gets a little better, I'll give everything a close and
careful inspection. It appears the top cowl has had the hole for the
filler
neck moved back a little. Is that what you meant?

The old tank repairs appear to have been very well done, and I have had no
problems. There is no evidence of anything rubbing now.

I guess the main thing is that the tank is not leaking, secure, and there
is
some clearance between it and the controls.
