I owned a Maule once which had landing lights in each wing, near the tip.
Aside from the vibration issue, running the lights when approaching a busy
airport during the day, gave the plane excellent visibility to other
aircraft. At night, with any haze, the shafts of light from the lights
were
not lined up with the pilots view making pilot visibility better. Someday
I'd like to have the same setup in the coupe wings. Currently mine are on
the landing gear legs on the Forney.
