This morning up at Arlington Municipal, WA (AWO) there was quite a few local and state patrol vehicles all around the airport. They seemed to be fixed at positions under the take-off and approach ends of the runway. I tried to bring up the normal frequencies that "the long arm of the law" uses in these here parts just to see if I could hear what they were saying, but couldn't get anything but normal traffic type operations. Another thing of note. Although Arlington is a non-towered airport, the "vacant" tower that was left over from the WWII days has a camera with large zoom lens on a tri-pod fixed on the approach end of 34. My guess is that we will be subjected to more ramp checks and questions in the future. Times they are a'changin.
