Would anyone know if an Ercoupe's generator emits enough EMI to interfere with a radio? The radio of the coupe I flew in (and that I looking towards buying) worked okay on the ground, but as soon we were in the air, with the engine RPM high enough for the us to be so, there was considerable noise over the radio. I talked to the owner about it and he said that he'd brought the radio over to a service shop, but it checked out okay on the bench He had bought it new and it had always been noisy that way at higher engine RPM. He surmises that it may be picking up noise from the coupe having a generator instead of an alternator. Any thoughts? Any problems involved with changing over to an alternator?
