Scott: I think it is a good idea to have the check pilot familiar with the airplane. How else can they ensure that the checkee is doing everything right? I recommend that once the partner is ready for the check ride, the instructor contact their normal examiner, and give that person a check out in the Coupe. Then you have an examiner who is ready to give the check ride.
