I do not remember it being so.  The springs are just dished metal disks
the same diameter as the rubber donuts.  They are placed end to end to
give the same spring as the rubber.  My guess is that they sould be
about the same weight.

        Dave, I heard that the Belleville system is quite a bit heavier
than the
        rubber donut system.  Is that true?
