Can anyone tell me how their mixture control works, is mine normal or worn
out, and if the latter, who rebuilds Stromberg carbs or is there a newer
substitute. Costs???? Advice appreciated.

There are two types of mixture controls. One can be used to cut
off the
engine. My Stromberg has the other type (non cutoff type). At idle it has
little or no affect but at cruise it does operate well enough to make the
engine slow down and run rough. As you probably know that means it is too
lean and can cause problems due to overheating, so you then make it a
little more rich until the rpm's come back up. Hope this helps.
