Concerning contamination to the Stromberg Carb's mixture control area: I used to have those round, fiber air filters. One day, after descending from cruising at 10,500, the engine got so rough I seriously worrked about making it the last seven miles to my destination airport.
The mechanic I was going to visit, pulled the carb and stripped it down. We found the fibers from the air filter had plugged up the air channel and moving-plate-holes for the mixture resulting in a very lean mixture. It just needed to be cleaned and install a new filter. The first chance I got, I had it replaced with the foam filter. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > Hello all: > The mixture control on my 85 hp coupe has no obvious effect.
