Steve, Glad to hear all is going OK with the engine. As to drain down, the main tank does overflow into the wing tanks, preventing fuel from flowing out the cap into the windstream, but his would leave you 6 gallons of fuel in the fuselage tank. if all fuel is draining into the wing tanks, then the plumbing is wrong ! The fuel line from the fuel pump feeds to the tank through one line ( don't remember which one, the other line allows excess fuel to flow back to your wing tank. Hooked up backwards, fuel might sipon out of the main tank ?
On my coupe, the overflow line is just to the right and toward the nback of the tank, and can be felt with a long finger. This line should allow the tank to overflow, with the fuel level reamining about 1 - 1 1/2 inch below bottom of header tonk cap. This leaves 6 gallons in the tank, so you can get home after the fuel pump quits. If the lines are reversed, and all fuelk drains out, then if the ppump quits, you have a real problem !!! Take a close look, maybe even blow some air through the lines to determine which is which. There were several version of tnaks and lines - one that allowed the overflow line to be "adjusted, etc.... Be happy to copy the diagrams if you like. Fly Safe - Have Fun Harry 93530 Blacksburg, Va.
