This might be a factor. The engine does use oil at a rate of about a quart every two hours, and at least some of it is blowing out of the breather. The compression check shows mid-70s in each cylinder though, so I'm surprised at the oil use. One thing is, the engine has 750 since new, and new was 1970, so it hasn't been flown regularly. God knows what has happened to the cylinder walls, not to mention the cams and gears and such. Also, the oil gets black quickly, making me think it probably is blow-by. I'll try the MMO, then pull the cylinders and have look if things don't improve.
