Hi Glen,
I just came in for a cup of coffee and checked my mail, I saw the
message that Dan sent you. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back
to you on this, I did finally make make it in to K-mart and I got a
little information for you then forgot to send it too you.
Magellan has three models in the hiker/camper type GPS.

1- The "Pioneer", bottom of the line, stores 100 locations or
landmarks
and has a few less features. Sells for $99.
2- The "GPS 2000", This is the one Dan has and he likes it a lot,
(I've
seen the mount he has) and uses it all the time. I'm not sure if it
shows altitude but it does have mph/kph whichever you prefer to use. I
bought one like his (on his recommendation) but I haven't had time to
sit down and figure it out yet. This one sells for $149.
3- The "GPS 3000", a new model, this one and the "GPS 2000" both
store
up to 200 locations/landmarks. It probably has a few more features but
I didn't open the box at K-Mart to read the list of features. (maybe it
has altitude, that might be a nice feature to have, especially if flying
at night in unfamiliar territory, they both have alighted display)
This one sells for $249. If you decide to check further, you could go
into K-Mart and compare these two. I don't think I would get the
Pioneer, I'd go the extra $50 and get the 2000.(unless the 3000 has a
lot more features that you think are woth the extra $100.) If I didn't
already have the 2000 before these two new ones came out I'd probably
still get the 2000. (All I have to do now is find time to sit down and
get it all figured out and start using it.) With the elcro mount that
Dan has on his, you can easily remove it for use in your car or
whatever.
Gotta get back outside Glenn, good luck.
