I purchased a cheapie Magellan about a year ago. It did not have the speed limitation that some of the Garmins do. However, the reception was less than satisfactory and I would loose satellite lock very easily and couldn't reacquire with out rebooting the unit. I think there may be a big difference in the antenna sensitivity with some of the cheaper units. I have a Garmin 89 (with aviation data base) and it works very well in the Coupe mounted on the yoke and without using the remote antenna. I also own a Trimble which I used in my Cherokee (yoke mount) and it also was an excellent unit.
