One thing that Mr. Greg Bullough hit upon was the greater speed and how 
this can do a lot more damage to you. I would say that the one time this 
bothers me is when I think about an engine failure.  It is imperative 
that the Ercoupe plane you buy have a very good engine.  This should be 
true of any plane, but I do believe that an engine failure crash in the 
Ercoupe plane will likely be worse than in other planes.  Therefore I 
had a rebuild done by Mattituck and would recommend the avoidance of any 
aircraft which has an engine with many years or hours since overhaul.  
The accessories in particular are bad about failing early.  Also be very 
careful to watch for long periods of inactivity or overhauls which may 
have been less than proper.  Be sure to confirm any recent overhauls and 
annuals with the shop that did them.  Logbooks have been forged in the 
past, and even some list members have been burned.  VA
