I don't think anyone said that the service bulletin concerning vapor lock was discussed at Sun n Fun. I wasn't at the Coupe forum, so I don't really know what was discussed there, just that someone made a comment that John Wright said that Alons are prone to engine failures. He may not have even been talking about vapor lock. As I said, I wasn't there.
I replied to this list that there was a service bulletin regarding changes to the fuel system which addresses this issue. The service bulletin is in the Univair "Alon Service Bulletins Letters and Memoranda" book. This book has a number on the cover 4-00001B (may be the part number for the book?). The title of this service bulletin is "Carburetor and Fuel System Modifications". It is shown as "Mandatory compliance within the next 50 hours." (Remember that service bulletins are not mandatory as far as the FAA is concerned.) This service bulletin does not have a service bulletin number assigned to it in my book. The service bulletin requires a change to the carb, fuel tank outlet fitting, firewall penetration, fuel lines, and relocation of the fuel filter. I am sure that you can still order this book from Univair if you need additional info. Hope this helps.
