Coupers; I talked to another Alon owner last week who had a problem with
the
engine losing power on take off. I believe Ed Smith had that type of
problem,
and I have heard of several others. Does anyone have information on those
affected aircraft such as: was Alon service bulletin #19 incorporated? Was

any problem found after the engine lost power?
My reason for asking is that as I was looking at the fuel system diagrams
for
our Coupes, I noticed that all of them show the fuel flowing down to the
carburetor when the aircraft is in a level attitude.
All Alons, and possibly some Forneys have the gascolator mounted on the
lower
portion of the firewall such that fuel has to run up to the carburetor,
from
the gascolator, when the aircraft is in a level attitude.
Service bulletin # 19 lowered the gascolator an additional 3 + inches. I
have
a feeling that this may contribute to the fuel problem.
Has anyone, besides the Alon factory in the 1960s, looked at this problem?
