I had my first night flight lesson last night and it was wonderfull. I have been in training for the last week and I'm loving every second. I have only done 3 daytime landings and the basic manuvers. We wanted to fly in the evening but it got to late so my instructor asked if I would like to night fly, no need to ask me twice, we warmed up the coupe and departed Spanish Fork. I was flying :) ......... how do you guys decide when it's time to land and go home? I was in heaven or at least the lower half of it. The moon was half and reflecting off of Utah lake giving it a light reflection. I later made a my first attempt at a night landing, it was so cool being on final and seeing the lights of the runway. I flaired a little early and bounced once and finaly touched down. It was not pretty, I'm so glad that it was at night and none of my friends could see my stunt flying. I tried another one and I was a little hot and bounced just once this time. I had had enough at this point and wanted to hanger the coupe but my instructor told me to try another and I relented, I wanted to better my last landing but was feeling a little over loaded. So we took off again and flew the patern and there I was again on final with those pretty landing lights calling me home. I had the power and airspeed perfect and and lined up dead center. I waited and waited and then I flaired and waited and waited and then as you guys say I "oiled it," or is it "greased it"? lol I felt so high I could not believe what I had just done. When ever thing comes together there's nothing better. I'm glad my instructor didn't let me quit so soon. I told my wife when I got home and that I had greased my first landing and it was at night. She looked at me with a funny look and asked me "why do you have to grease the landing gear, is it harder at night to do it? I told her I would just show her rather than explain it to her.
