Hi All! Just a couple of thoughts re: landings in the 'Coupe from my perspective...six years owner with about 600 hrs in N3571H, (no pedals). I fly approach at 70 smph all the way to flare. Touchdown about 60 mph. If I'm a little high on final, I'll slow to 60 or less, and let her sink to just above glide path altitude, then drop nose, add power and continue. (I never do this on short final). I practiced this maneuver at altitude many times before trying it close to
the ground. It's almost as good as slipping, but visibility over the nose is not too good. I have practiced flying approaches at various speeds in order to fit into different traffic situations. At Oshkosh, I flew all the way to flare at 90kts. When you nose up, speed bleeds off quickly, land at 60. It's a good idea to be able to fly final at higher speeds at busy airports with heavier aircraft such as biz-jets, etc. You are less of an impediment to traffic flow, and tower people talk nicer to you. Just be sure to practice at your "little airport in the sky" before you try it close to terra firma. See you at Columbia! Don Cooley
