Ok, I've gotten your responses and will add more info to probe deeper into this mystery. I don't remember which rings were broken on #2 cyl because I was a brand new owner then and thinking my baby would never fly again. That happened at about 280 hrs since major. Me and my mechanic pulled it and replace the rings and put me back in the air. When #3 went kaput, all but the top ring were broken. The oil ring was in two peices and the other two were in dozens of peices. That was at about 420 hrs. The ring peices were pretty tight in the lands and my mechanic say lead fouling could be the culprit, but I burn mostly mogas so I'm not sold. I don't have a mixture control so I can't do anything in that regard. I'm rarely above 3000 msl anyway. As far as cooling baffles go, they seem to be as they should be. I realize that the other two jugs will most likely haveto come off. I'm just hoping to make it through the good months before they do. It would probably be a good idea to pull them now, but I just sat through a long winter with limited flying and I don't want to wait any longer. If I start seeing alot of oil usage I will put her down though. I also plan on pulling the plugs every few hours just to see how things look.
