Googling for uid_validity and statcache together with courier tends
towards showing OP's server as being Dovecot rather than Courier.
Googling for exim_quota throws up nothing comprehensible to any
Westerner.

Touching *any* non-dot file name whatsoever in my Courier IMAP 4.1.1
Maildirs doesn't have that file show up in a folder listing. Ergo, OP's
server can not be Courier (and I'll be darned if I'll install Dovecot,
just to try to prove my point).
