Yes, I gathered that.  Except that in fedora at least, it's just
"fam"...  That was my confusion.

Anyway, it's fixed now.  No idea why restarting xinetd didn't help, or
why fam stopped working (or maybe it was the latest compile of courier
that somehow enabled it).  It works now.
