Email to sanghas-help still gets forwarded to the list owner instead of getting the help auto-reply message. Is something required to configure this?

That usually indicates that .courier files are not set up correctly.

I have spent some time looking at this, even digging into cmlm.C, but remain baffled.

Mail to sanghas-help consistently forwards the message to the list owner with no errors reported, but:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ export DEFAULT=help
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ echo -e "from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" | couriermlm ctlmsg /home/sanghas/sanghas-list

sends the correct help template back to me.

This makes be believe that DEFAULT must somehow be wrong in the environment established by the dot-courier delivery. However, all of the other admin commands, e.g., -subscribe, -unsubscribe, -fetch-N, etc., are working properly (although for some reason I don't think the list archive is being built).

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ pwd
/home/sanghas
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -l .courier-default
-rw-r--r-- 1 sanghas sanghas 56 2008-07-07 01:52 .courier-default
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat .courier-default
| /usr/bin/couriermlm ctlmsg /home/sanghas/sanghas-list
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Any ideas?

Courier logs to syslog exactly where each message was delivered to. I suggest that you look there.
