And here is the incorrect behavior when I send a message to sanghas-help:

The logging here seems normal to me,

No, the above log entries are for a message that was delivered to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, and not "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

Again that is all there is in syslog, nothing else. There is no logging for the incoming message, which I sent from [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Then the incoming message could not have been delivered by Courier. It would've been logged by at least a dozen places in the code that handles all the various bits involved in message processing.

The model of couriermlm in several of the examples in the man pages seems to assume a list name of user-listname, e.g. suga-sanghas in this case, with suga owning the dot-courier files and list directory. My list is just sanghas, owned by the sanghas system user in /home/sanghas/sanghas-list. Could that be at all relevant to this issue?

No, as long as you adjust the .courier filenames accordingly. In such a case, instead of .courier-list, the corresponding file would be .courier, instead of .courier-list-owner you'd have .courier-owner, and so on. But local mail delivery occurs as the very last stage of incoming message processing, and the incoming message would've been logged plenty of times, by then.
