Hi everybody,

I have a little problem setting up a mailinglist with couriermlm.
courier-mta is set up and working; I tried to set up a mailinglist as
described in
www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/courier-extras.txt. The
username for the list is balfolk, the home folder for my list is
/home/mailinglists/balfolk, in this folder are stored the files .courier,
.courier-default and .courier-owner with their respective contents. However,
when I try to subscribe at the list via [email protected] I get an
"550 User < [email protected] > unknown". Should I have defined an
alias for the list? Or am I missing something else?

Yes. What's missing is more information from you. At the bare minimum, the contents of your locals and/or hosteddomains and/or me configuration files. The output of "authtest balfolk". The actual contents of your purported home directory, the output of "ls -al" that shows the ownership and permissions of the directory and its content. What gets logged in your syslog. And anything else which you believe might help someone else understand what you've done.
