 You may try configure "BLACKLISTS="  on esmtpd file and it help you stop some 
of those IPs that are sending spams. Another thing to do is to set up your 
firewall and implement a DOS rule so you can stop them from the firewall and 
delay E-Mails that go to your backup SRV.

 Also on the BackUP SRV you may try to find the way to legitimate the FROM 
adress by using SPF for example.
