I'm tending in this direction myself. For one thing I am making
extensive use of the message-filter feature of Netscape, and
so many more posts go straight to the trash file. And I use
a quick delete finger on those I do inspect.

On the other hand I've made a number of acquaintances on the
maillists from whom I've learned (including you). And there is
this: when a technological gimmick first appears, everyone
(including those who really know better) tend to think that
the technology will work magic. But after the cb-like features
of maillists have faded away, then we will see if anything is
left.

We'll see.

Carrol
