The 2nd Law doesn't only apply to "closed systems," if there is such a
thing.  It applies to energy.  Unless you can find a credible way for solar
energy to be converted into enough concentrated, portable energy to replace
fossil fuel, and simultaneously redesign and retool the entire global
economic infrastructure to accomodate your new discoveries before the
depletion of primary oil begins the "crash cascade," the 2nd Law not only
applies, it is about to become a very hard master indeed.
