I noticed. I agree that once databases are in cache, the loading is very short and it looks a bit strange to have the splash screen flashes and disappear. But one the other hand, when it happens, it means you are just restarting the game and probably want to get to the starting screen quickly. Maybe a good compromise would be to have it wait for a key, but timeout after a few seconds (counting loading time).
