If pushing happens, "You desperately attempt to dodge the enormous
%s." If it doesn't, "Unable to dodge, you are crushed by the %s."

Or something like that. My only point here is that it probably makes
sense to tie the two messages together, and make it consistently
sensible that your character has at least a CHANCE to trade off damage
from trampling versus something else.

I love this idea in general -- hope it works.

If it does, I'd someday like to see a psionic monster that gives most
of the monsters on a level the ability to make decisions as a herd. I
mean, I'd love to see it as a game author, not as a game player.
