Again I recall that Ricky's power numbers are correct. I had thought the
cam was changed in '90 and consulted the Honda parts catalog. The cam in the
Si was changed in '89 and held to '91. It was changed in the DX in '90 (DX
automatics had a different cam from 5 speeds but both changed in '90) and
the HF had the same cam throughout.
The 3 hp power increase from the cam although the parts catalog does not
show actual power numbers. The '90-91 ECU genrally had a slightly higher
rev limiter but this is somewhat hard to prove as there can be a few hundred
rpm variance from computer to computer plus we don't know dead accuracy of
how fast the tachs really respond and are accurate at those revs.
The IT racer trick was always to put '90 cam and computer (although the book
shows '89s cam will do) in an '88 car. I had also heard but cannot confirm
that there is some stronger webbing and bearing thrust areas in the '90-91
transmission (may be consistant with the post '88 spline changes) that could
take more power than the early ones.
