You just said what I was thinking.. couldn't have said it better.. It's a real mess right now.. workshop idea is great and all but theres just too many files to look after..

You have turned a beautiful game into hell to host and run. This game should run with a simple config file, not 4 different files taking care of the same thing, gamemodes.txt, gamemodes_server.txt, competitive_server.cfg, server.cfg, now as if that was not enough, lets just add map groups, auth keys, more launch parameters, do mandatory updates all at once and break everything. Please rethink your updates and game setup. Make this into something that is easy and fun to host, not a hassle. Clear up your minds and come up with a simple way to control these things. CS1.6 and CSS were successful only because of how simple it is to get it setup and on the way. Also it would have been hella nice to have released a how to guide from start to finish on getting the map workshops and collections setup and starting your server with the proper parameters, instead of all of us dumping emails and waiting for your reply to each question one by one in between 50 diff emails. Its like dumping a bunch of parts for someone and telling them, here you go, set it up. Ultimately we chose the current system because 1. It’s not technically trivial to enforce a unique namespace on arbitrary workshop files given the current workshop architecture. 2. We’d rather not create namespace scarcity and incentivize name squatting. 3. Mappers to-date have strong incentives to differentiate their work so a real problem of multiple identical bsps is currently theoretical. I agree that it’s a bit inconvenient to look up the id when setting the command line arguments whenever one wants to change the start map on a server but I think this might be a bit hyperbolic: “inconveniencing every single other person who wants to use the map. “ And btw, thanks for all of the feedback. *From:* [email protected] [ mailto:[email protected]<[email protected]>] *On Behalf Of *David Fountain *Sent:* Friday, February 08, 2013 9:37 AM *To:* [email protected] *Subject:* Re: [Csgo_servers] CSGO 1.22.2.1 I second this motion SavSin On Feb 8, 2013 8:18 AM, "Absurd Minds" <[email protected]> wrote: Perhaps requiring a unique map name would be better.
