Hi @all, I´m in little trouble because we have a lanparty in 2 weeks and I don´t know how to handle the Workshop Map-Downloads. We wanna Play the _se / _ve maps from ESL an those are only Available with the workshop Map-Downloads but our bandwidth is not big enough to allow Downloads of Maps for all Players.
After thinking about this "Problem" I have some Question about some Ideas I had. 1. Can I cache the downloads with an Proxy like squid or something else? - This means one Download from Valve Server an the reset from our Proxy? - If yes how can I configure this? - Is there a list from which URL/IP the maps are downloadable? 2. Can I copy the Workshop Maps from one computer / account to the other? - If yes, dose this work for Players which have no registered Workshop maps? - If this works, we can Upload all necessary Maps to our FTP and the guest Download it from there. 3. Is it possible to use Fast-Download including Workshop-Maps? - Do I need an own Mapgroup for this and the _se Maps in $CSGODIR/maps/*_se.bsp ? Have anyone another Idea how to handle this "traffic / badwith" problem? What does the vlave developers think about this Problems on Offline events / LANpartys? If there is a LAN mode there should be a solution for the Workshop Problems. Hope someone can help me :) Best Regards Chris
