Vitaliy, I must agree with the general consensus of this thread. Further limitation to community servers are only killing them off, one by one. Just a bit of background before I start, I currently run 3 CS:GO servers for my gaming community and the public, and have ran servers as far back as 1.6. Just our "fun" server alone last month brought in over 7000 unique players. This server (as of an hour ago, now used to) run the infamous weapon skins plugin, and the fake rank/coin plugin as well.
To start, do you have any sort of proof to your claim of devaluation of marketplace items or ranks? From my personal experience, I hardly could agree. - *Ranks:* When the plugin was first introduced, some players were indeed confused by the ranks off the start, but then realized that they were fake. After this quick moment of confusion players on my server had a lot of fun changing their ranks to whatever they wanted it to be, and everyone laughing at how the "global elites" were lowest on the scoreboard and the "Silver 1's" were highest. It created humor and a larger sense of "fun", with no negative backlash. So what if someone has a coin displayed in one community server that says they were a Champion at ESL One Katowice? It's a joke, it's fake, and we all know it. *Are we now going to put bans on people who change their names and profile pictures to that of known CS:GO pros too? * - *Weapon skins:* The literal and figurative "devaluation" of weapon skins is quite absurd. People love putting wacky skins on guns (e.g. BOOM! on a Glock, etc) and just enjoying cosmetics overall. *In no way* is Valve losing money from skins - in fact, because of this plugin, you are *making money*. I know of several instances where people on my sever have been messing around putting skins on their knives/weapons and said "*hey this actually looks really good, I'm going to go and buy it!*". In fact, a couple days ago, one of my personal friends actually bought a Blue Steel Huntsman knife because he liked the look of it so much. He would not have even bought this if he wasn't able to try it out first. - *Knife plugins*: Are these still allowed or no? I see a lot of back and forth on here trying to decipher what you are saying - this is me "contacting you" in order to clarify - Interfering with systems that allow players to correctly access their own > CS:GO inventories, items, or profile. This is something I definitely can agree with - it's a no brainer. No complaints here. In short - all these cool and unique features in a fun community server encourage players to continue playing on these servers, and also legitimately purchase/earn these items/ranks, they do not devalue them at all. Should they be enabled in every server? Absolutely not. They should be available for servers in which the server operators deem to see fit. *However, I do not agree with monetizing these features. *Should these features be why players come to your server? Absolutely not. *However*, they are a very unique feature which helps make a server what it is; more enjoyable, and fun. I already have disappointed folk that frequent our servers messaging me asking why these plugins aren't working, and I regretfully have to tell them that they are disabled due to request of Valve. I seriously hope you at Valve discuss and re-think your decision. Ian On Wed, Jul 8, 2015 at 2:11 AM, ics <i...@ics-base.net> wrote: > I tend to agree with Steve.
