"Social Security" was the final bullshit item to promise us some
semblance of financial security (what a sham). Can't opt out even. Let us
not forget the sense of physical security that good old Uncle Sam gives to
us, well worth throwing away what little rights we have. No?

You're singing a tune that I know by heart. I work for the Postal
Service, and we have a LARGE union, that IS affiliated with the AFL-CIO.
What an incredible joke it is. We "negotiated" our last contract without
going to arbitration (which the Union hailed as a major step for us. The
deal sucked through and through. Then when another Postal Union went to
arbitration and got a better deal all the sudden OUR union was crying foul.
Just politics, so BLATANT now that it is pathetic. The same rights and wages
as non-union members, and if we want to get out of the union we must wait
until our hire date anniversary, if you miss the window you gotta wait
another year. Labor and anagement EQUAL one.

So true. Of course we can't strike either, and it is the ONLY power that
we ever had and it is no longer in our hands. Does anyone ever wonder why
there are so many postal shootings? I could tell you some of the reasons for
it.

As I said in a recent post on a similar topic, violence is unfortunately
necessary in some cases. When the shackles are pulled taut one too many
times, when the eye gets bruised one too many times, when the boot stomps you
that one last time.
