Could it be somehow that the dialogue is not a child of the main window
of which you are tracing the events? That would of course be rather
unusual, but not impossible.

Hi Olaf,

I just tried to find that out using xwininfo, but it doesn't seem to be the case: wherever I click, the resulting information is always the same:

% xwininfo

xwininfo: Please select the window about which you
would like information by clicking the
          mouse in that window.

xwininfo: Window id: 0x1400033 "JabRef"

  Absolute upper-left X: 6
  Absolute upper-left Y: 29
  Relative upper-left X: 6
  Relative upper-left Y: 29
  Width: 628
  Height: 989
  Depth: 24
  Visual: 0x21
  Visual Class: TrueColor
  Border width: 0
  Class: InputOutput
  Colormap: 0x20 (installed)
  Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Backing Store State: NotUseful
  Save Under State: no
  Map State: IsViewable
  Override Redirect State: no
  Corners: +6+29 -646+29 -646-6 +6-6

Best regards,

        Alexander
