Yes, this is what I was originally leaning towards -- use another computer to install a bootable install image. Been meaning to learn more about qemu too. Sure, the original 35 year old HD is on borrowed time and this whole project can end quickly. But it's a simple joy to get these old devices working on current NetBSD.
