Robert. I just signed up on the internet and information was minimal. I understood I am to receive a modem, for $12.95 shipping. I haven't received anything yet. Think I should wait to see what I receive to find out what I need. My desktop computer is a do it yourself P3 1000 with 512MB Ram and 20GB hard drive. My wife's laptop is a Compaq Armada 7000 with P2 266, with 192 MB Ram and 6GB hard drive. I was thinking wired. Your CWE cash of hardware is good to know, and I may borrow to try some if I run into a problem with what I buy.
Just lemme know.
You mentioned filters. What am I filtering?
If I understand correctly, they are low-pass filters, and prevent your phone from introducing high-frequency noise onto the line where your DSL modem is.
Where do I put these?
On every phone jack. The jack where the DSL modem is can either not have a filter or have a filter that's also a splitter.
What is the DSL frequency?
Dunno exactly. Above audible. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Subscriber_Line Regards, - Robert http://www.cwelug.org/downloads Help others get OpenSource software.
