You rubbing it in? ;) I think the X problem is a nvidia driver problem, which I'm using right now, unfortunately. Maybe that's why menu.lst isn't being updated ... because it detects a graphics issue. It's not really important right now anyway.

"NVidia X Server Settings" is from the proprietary drivers, and they need to be reinstalled whenever you use change kernels, because they are compiled against the kernel thats currently running.
