<I don't know the PSDB, but I find it exceptionally
difficult to believe some boffins poking around in
a lab in a country with a dozen police shootings
a year know better than the ballisticians in the
country with more police shootings than all European
countries put together>

They have a website:

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/pcrg/psdb.htm

The relevant PSDB sector is 'Firearms & Protective
Equipment'. Naturally, there's nothing about their
police ammunition specification as "most PSDB
publications are classified and available only to
official users".

I agree completely with Steve. The US agencies have
learnt the hard way what works and what doesn't. One
has to wonder at the 'expertise' that recommends
a 95gr JSP for police work.

Whilst I was having a look, I noticed the Home Office
slogan: "Building a safe, just and tolerant society".
I expect that many other former pistol
owners will appreciate the irony of this phrase.

Why on Earth is it classified? Is it so bad that
they have to hide behind the Official Secrets Act?

All I can say is that the FBI, the National Institute
of Justice, the US DoD, and a laundry list of other
individuals including Marshall, Sanow, Ayoob etc.
have all done studies and come to the overwhelming
conclusion that hollowpoints are by far the superior
choice for police use.

Better yet, how many people _by choice_ carry
9mm JSP? It's so awful that no-one makes it anymore,
except (apparently) for supply to our police.

Am I the only person on the list to have used it?
Or did you all wisely steer clear of that purchasing
decision!

Steve.
