So I would be impressed if this were an elaborate scam :-)

Actually, it seems there are two different but related organisations (my
mistake).  Joining the SFC gives us a way to handle money -- and yes
before we do raise said money we will need to have a discussion about
how we want to use it, whereas retaining the services of the SF_L_C
would bue useful for obtaining legal advice.  Note that these seem to be
the same people

We should indeed deal with this before officially starting to accept
donations.
