Beware... a benevolent dictatorship is a much more efficient process than
a democracy, and, in small, close-knit groups, tends to work quite well.

The Debian project is /not/ a small, close-knit group, and hence not a good
point of comparison.

Now, now.  Please choose TECO, SNOBOL, or C++ next time.

Note that most successful changes in leadership were done by forking
(X.Org, EGCS).  I don't think there's such a thing as a graceful overthrow
mechanism.

I would personally be opposed to codyfing such a mechanism.  If the
leadership is overthrown, the overthrowers should be forced to change the
project name.
