Actually, we had some discussion on IRC about this a couple weeks ago.  If I
recall correctly the consensus at that time was that we should rewrite darcs
to run on the GPU using one of the shader languages.  This has the advantage
that we could begin working on a nice 3d gui for darcs, take advantage of
massively parallel computations and be the first VCS to run on the GPU.


Emacs lisp, on the other hand, only seems to run inside of emacs.  So yes,
perhaps a GPU based fork is in order.  Unless maybe you can port elisp to
the GPU?
