Let me describe the concrete use-case. I have a photo with a face I want
to adjust. So I use a mask to select the face, adjust tonal curve to
tune its tonal appearance and use _coloradjustment_ mode to decrease
color contrast scaling of _the_face_ . I guess it's natural. If no mask
is used the effect works as described.

Workaround: Two instances of tone curve, one blend mode lightness, the
other blend mode color, this way you can control the strength of the
color adjustment manually.

Thank you, It helped, though it is not the same as coloradjustment, but
more powerful.

There are two abilities - to create a copy or duplicate the instance.
