Indeed :) And I'm running also CUPS 1.7.5. > The CUPS admin page looks alright and says "no printers." In mine I have at least the PDF printer listed, plus my 2 other printers. This is probably why the call hangs, but again installing cups-pdf should have added a PDF printer automatically.
