why implement in the ability to empty a card? On my opinion even the import
feature
is not relevant. I don't think it's Darktable duty to implement such features
so, if ever,
the idiotproof way is certainly the wise one.
I pretty much agree with this philosophy
I do not use the import function as I use exiftool to write GPS information
into the RAW
image. Yes, I know, there is a risk in doing that but I have not had a
corrupted image
yet. And if an image is corrupted, the original is still on the card. I only
format the card
at the end of a trip (I do Australia Outback landscapes) or when I run out of
space.
I also take an external hard drive with me so that the images are also copied
to that.
Paranoid? Perhaps, but when you drive ~2,500km just to get there, losing your
images is not something I want to happen.
