Could you upload/send a version of your edit? I am running the release version of darktable, it doesn't open your .xmp file. Anyway, I was trying to match the LR version Hans Petter had shown us, file LR_53_exp-2.jpg -- on my monitor, the shadows in that image are very pronounced, and I do not see faces. I admit my monitor is a CRT, not very high end, but I don't think it is that far off.
