I use Vista on W2K3 server (tcp/ip). Vista is a pita to set up, but once set up was fine.
Not sure I remember all I did to set it up, here is some of it. You can specify compatibility mode when you run a batch file/shortcut, I assume you messed with that already. If not, start there. HP printers need a new universal printing driver, and you need to install it in dynamic mode, not traditional mode. I think. Protected root directory, so I made a c:\batch directory.
